Family and friends.
How great was conference?? I seriously have never looked forward to something with more gusto than I did for this conference. I've been counting the days for like three and a half weeks now, and boy was it great. Elder Eyring's talk in the morning, and Elder Hollands were fantastic (duh) and all of President Monson's were too. Priesthood was so awesome, and I told my comp you guys were there dad and bros!! so sweet. My testimony of the savior is literally burning brigher every day. I yearn for my one hour of personal study, and dream of coming home when i can spend longer if i want.
The book of mormon is true. I keep witnessing people changing hearts and minds to join this church and make commitments and follow commitments, and it blows my mind every time. These people are feeling it for the first time, and I know that it is true because in a way i witness the truth WITH MY EYES. its awesome.
Ok answers to questions. No the nights are not too cold. When the rain comes (about every other day), it gets pretty windy and sometimes pours, which is awesome!! But other than that it is very warm and sunny most of the time. and i get sunburned so fast because we´re so much closer to the equator!! One time we were teaching in a little shack and the rain came and poured on the tin roof, and we had to literally yell at each other to understand what we were saying. kinda hard to feel the spirit sometimes in a situation like that. but it went ok.
My comp and I are... ok. Sometimes we have some major issues, because he just barely finished with his own training, and then he had to train a gringo. Luckily for him I happen to be awesome (mostly kidding). But yeah almost every day we have a little skirmish of some kind, mostly because of cultural differences--he has lived away from family members all his life-his parents are separated-- and so he doesn't really give me any sympathy for writing letters and missing you guys or anything , also, i have troubles with the whole we´ll get there when we get there, we´ll do it when we do it, it´ll happen when it happens kinda thing that all the Latinos live by. So frustrating to walk across our section of the city, get to an appointment which of course falls through because the people aren't there, have to walk back to our room because we forgot something important (happens all the time ha) and then return to the same place right after. I feel like i walk on average 7 unneccesary miles every day. but whatever we´re working through it. please pray for us though. I need help learning how to help my trainer help me, if you know what i mean. it´s hard, but I do love the work, and I do love my Compañero a lot. he is a very good teacher and loves the people.
Our apartment is very small, and very plain. and its hard to read at night because the lights are pretty dim. we might buy a microwave today, and that would rock!!! But yeah we have a bedroom, bathroom, and big room connected to a little kitchen. our table and chairs are the plastic deck kind, but we do have a couple pretty worn out wooden desks . I don't know our address, but we live across from a preuniversitario called centro preuniversitario de la unch (universidad de ayacucho) if you can find it bueno suerte. We have had water the last few days, so I HAVE BEEN SHOWERING and it is very very wonderful. my robes were.. estinky ... and also my recreation clothes, but now they're not so we´re good.
Also, we came by tour bus!! a huge double decker and I sat in the very front of the second floor so that was really pretty cool. Although, we left at like 9 30 pm, and drove for ten hours all night. I slept most of the trip, but did wake up early morning, and there was snow everywhere. We were way up in the mountains driving through literally snow filled valleys and that was cool being in peru.
Anyway Im mailing you guys personal letters today, so hopefully you'll get them in maybe a little over a week. Mom, send stuff to the mission office, and they get it to me. Address should be on that letter you got or somewhere. Please pray for me. I pray for every one of you by name like every noche!! (no really) (I pray for my friends too!!!)
Con amor
ok those people off the balcony are protestors in the juelga (think thats how its spelled) they protest every once in a while because the government is trying to raise tuition for university. kinda gets a little scary sometimes when all these kids are out yelling and throwing grapefruit sized rocks in the streets so cars cant get anywhere. but it only happens every ten days or something. no sé.
Those little chicos are Joél and abel, two little kids of a member hermana, and they absolutely love us to death. They're awesome and we ate duck at their house (killed it and cooked it too).
Also, Dad thank you so much for your letters!! I always read them!! and i will pray for what you asked and I have written personal letters to each of the childs. wait for em!!
If I sent the one of that little kid sleeping, he is another member youngin. very funny haha.
Also you have no idea how joyful I am to here that all three of my best friends I have been praying for are getting calls next week!! That will be what I think about when I need something to look forward to this week!! D tool, Ash and B dawg I love you guys so dang much. Do work. (The Lord´s).
