March 11, 2013 Villa El Salvador

Alright. Another week in the town of The Savior.

This week we have made a few changes in the mission. The president is getting worried that we as missionaries, are too focused on the quantity and not the quality of the work we do in the mission field. we are focused on finding as many people and teaching as many lessons, and baptizing as many as is possible, and not on finding, teaching, and baptizing CONVERTS, or those who are ready to make the covenants we present. President has asked us to be more spiritual. I like it a lot and as a companionship we have changed a few things.

por ejemplo,
when we contact in the streets, we testify and contact with the book of mormon. we are trying to mention it and testify of it as one of the first things we say to the random people in the streets. Also, we are being more direct and bold in explaining that, No, we are not jehovahs wittnesses (whose presence is astoundingly huge here in villa el salvador. We see little kid missionaries who are about 12 years old knocking door to door handing out pamphlets. crazy right??), and that no, we are not just another church here to preach. the people here believe, ingrained in the cultural beliefs and the lies satan has been planting for centuries, that if you simply let in ´church´ into your life, whatever church it is, whoever the missionaries are, whatever version of the bible you want, you are saved. Wow. I know it is crazy but that is what we are dealing with. and when we talk to people, or sit down for the first lesson, we tell these children of God, that they are confused (with love of course! we´re not rude haha) but we let them know that you simply are NOT saved by listening to the word of god. You have to act. and we know exactly how to act, let us help you know too!!!!!! and when the spirit is there, they feel the truth of what we say, and ask us for help, or (sadly and frequently) let us know that active religion is something they simply ´dont need´ right now.

Thought you might like to here how it is here right now, and ill let you know of any other stories relating to this in the coming work days.

In the companionship we are swell, Elder Pérez and I both feel that his visa is very soon coming, and that he is off to Mexico shortly. hopefully. He talks about how he feels like he just isnt ´in´  his mission yet haha.

I hope you know I love all of you, and that I am sure I have forgotten to say things that I wanted to say. Please remain firm in the faith, and study the scriptures!! also, preach my gospel chapter 2 is a fantastic toutor, and could help you all with your studies!! no matter what classes you are in! read it!!

Love to all,

permanezcan fieles y fuertes en su fe. les amo muchíssimo y ruego a nuestro dios que les bendiga.
chau!
