February 25, 2013 Goodbye Ayacucho

Ok.
First.
goodbye ayacucho. sad face.
I have been transfered. I am now in the zone of Villa El Salvador in Lima. Although lima is so darn huge that it doesnt look like big city, we are very far from any skyscrapers or anything like that.
Second.
It is unbelievably hot here, and I cant even believe it because it is so unbelievable.
I don't know a ton about my area yet, and I met the bishop and a couple members and a couple investigadors so far, but what I know is that the people are very receptive here. very nice people they say. but it is so hot!!! I honestly cant believe it!! I got to my room after being in a suit and tie and shoes for a solid 28 hours (not an exaggeration, we have to travel that way, and we travel all night to get to anywhere from Ayacucho), I got to my new room and showered. and there is no hot water but it was awesome. and then I got out of the shower, and began to sweat, and by the time we had left the apartment and reached the end of the street, I already felt super gross and sweaty, and now I feel like I haven't showered in two days haha. That is how hot it is. and the sun burns down and its so hot!!
But I do feel blessed to be here, and oh yeah I am now a District Leader over three companionships. Little nervous, but not really. the lord will help me.
report on stake conference..
Stake Conference was super awesome. honestly a one of a kind experience for me. Ayacucho is just so .. unique. it has its own spirit and it feels like another world, and all the missionaries are still jealous of me that i was there. But yeah in stake conference, President Douglas came and spoke, which was cool, and yeah i played in about five songs. The choir sang come thou fount, directed by a lady the stake hires to help the choir, (a lady who seems happier and happier every I see her at a church activity, and a lady who will shortly be baptized, hopefully). and the cool thing was that I was not nervous in the slightest. I simply knew that we had prepared and the the spirit would direct my hands and mind, and it did. Everything worked out perfectly, and I got to play prelude which I always love because I get to do it MY WAY . But honestly I will always remember Ayacucho, and dad you are right getting to play the piano for stake conference (a very well done, very beautiful meeting) will be a memory in my mind for the rest of my life. I will never forget it. This week will be interesting getting into a new schedule and working with a new companion, but I have seen the lords hand in my life, and I do continue to feel the influence of the Holy Ghost, and that means that everything is worth it, and working out. Oh and my comp is called elder Pèrez, a peruvian waiting for his visa to go to his real mission in mexico. That means that he could leave any day, so not sure what will happen this transfer.. could be interesting...
anyway chau and have a great week, and I hope you all are safe, and I will pray for you all, and pray that the lord will supply me with the revelation I need for the members of my district. thanks!!

Elder Hartvigsen
