Hey family!
Hey I should be calling later today mom. probably in an hour or so. We have to do the three minute call. And yes I am in Lima right now. I'm on p day with an Elder Lopez from Guatemala for today and tomorrow morning no màs. Then I will take my new trainee and head back to Ayacucho. Thank heavens I get to stay there, because I have realized how wonderful it is there. We are immensely blessed with investigadors and baptisms.
So I dont have any pictures because I forgot my camera in Ayacucho, sorry!! But next week I promise I will send them!!! And next week we get to talk, so that should be awesome!! Im exited to hear your voices!
This week was very spiritual in a few ways. We had a christmas devotional put on by all the missionaries to about 80 people from the stake that came, and I enjoyed that very much. When we sang for the president a month or two back, he told us that he definitely heard more than our 18 voices singing Fuente de mis Bendiciones (come thou fount). he told us that that is called the law of magnification. It is something that the lord can manifest to us, when we do our best and hope in faith for more.
This week when the elders and hermanas were all singing, and I was playing, there were moments where they sounded to me too good to be true. Too many voices to be just a small choir of 18 missionaries. The spirit literally magnified the power and emotion in the music for me. It was truly amazing.
Also this week, I had the goodbye with my companion of three months. He left for a part of Lima called Villa Maria I believe it was. And at this moment I still do not know who will be my new companion. Please pray for me that I can give him the best first impression of mission life that I can, and that we can continue in the success of before. I promise you guys I will be trying with everything I've got to follow the impressions of the spirit, and tell everyone in the world about Jesus Christ.
It has been a nice vacation from the crazy life of the mission to have a day off today. We're not going to do much more today, and for that I am grateful because I have enjoyed the rest and the Mcdonalds and Dominos that I have longingly devoured throughout the course of the day today. I feel very full right now ha.
The gospel is true. Thank you guys for your prayers, and thank you for everything you have given me in terms of spiritual support and a place to sleep and live. As christmas comes without snow or many familiar faces, I do have some small feelings of sadness, but it is ok, because I am on the errand of the lord Jesus Christ, and while there is no work more taxing, there neither is a work higher-paying.
I love the Lord and his gospel. I love these people. It was very sad for me to see the converts of my companion, and the people that we taught together, so sad and discouraged when my companion (a big part of the symbol of hope and happiness in their lives) left. But they need to know (and of course we teach) that Jesus Christ is the hope that simply does not die, nor fade, nor go. I am grateful for the spirit I have in my daily life, and I love this gospel con todo mi corazòn.
Con amor
Elder Hartvigsen
